The Pace of Time

Time works strangely for people waiting for something to happen, a mere minute can feel like hours or more.

There are times when the seconds were crawling at snail pace. Like when...

1. You were a hungry elementary student waiting for the lunch bell to ring.

2. Your guardian promised the take you to take you to the amusement part as soon as they finish this last email before summer break begins.

3. When your public transport is late and you fear that it will never arrive.

4. Waiting for your official document to be issued and the people you contacted seems really stressed.

5. As a driver for the day you wait for your friend/relative/etc. to finish the final conversation before leaving a gathering.

6. Your only phone/computer/tablet got into a bit of an accident and you nervously wait for the shop's repair staff to declare it savable or unsalvageable

7. A non-swimmer being told the next swimming session is a mandatory group activity and s/he counts down the time for it to end.

8. The waiting for the fun and social person to arrive at a reunion or family gathering.

9. The times while waiting for a pause in the very long speech of your conversation partner to excuse yourself to go to the restroom or simply to get out of there.

Or, sometimes time goes faster than you really need sometimes sweat colors the back of your shirt after the waiting ends. Sometimes you think back and wonder where the times went. Like...

1. When, as a kid, your parent leaves you in line for the grocery check out to quickly go weigh the stray bag of fruits.

2. According to your memories, one day you find yourself waiting by your phone to hear about the birth announcement of a little family member and the next day they're graduating.

3. Or, in a blink of an eye you are the one driving and waiting at the terminal to pick up your parents at the airport instead of the other way around.

4. Waiting an hour for the baking to finish only the scroll through your phone for just a moment and times up!

5. Cleaning the whole house from the beginning of the day and after finishing it's already sunset.

6. An assignment waits to pop up on you because you procrastinated despite the assignment being assigned weeks prior.
